We envision a transformative journey towards a carbon-neutral, climate resilient, and high-performance food system by 2030. Our goal is to create a resilient ecosystem that effectively provides affordable, safe, and nutritious food for all while generating gainful employment and empowering women and children. At the heart of our vision lies the maximization of Gross National Happiness and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as aligning our efforts with Bhutan's Nationally Determined Contributions and Low Emissions Development Strategy (LEDS) for Food Security.

We recognize the immense opportunities that lie ahead. The agriculture sector is a catalyst to reimagine and design a food system that prioritizes wellbeing and ecological stability. This endeavor requires bold investments, accelerated scientific innovations, and a renewed commitment to building a world free of hunger, strife, and poverty.

Join us in shaping a future where Bhutan's food system not only sustains us economically but also nurtures our environment and enriches the lives of all Bhutanese.

BATIF

2024

Our Flagship Program

The Bhutan AgriFood Trade Investment Forum (BATIF) 2024 will leverage opportunities for investment in Agrifood Systems in Bhutan. We will welcome over 100 participants from the government, business and industry leaders, international organizations, development partners, as well as civil society leaders, experts, youth representatives, social entrepreneurs focused on agri-food systems.

We seek to identify key collaboration and dialogue to accelerate economic growth, ensure social inclusion through agricultural transformation and sustainable management of Bhutan’s vast natural resources in line with the Sustainable Development 2030 Agenda.

We seek investments and partnerships to identify opportunities to contribute to capacities and scaling of Bhutanese agri-food system ventures.

We seek to facilitate the efforts to engage with policymakers, investors, and development partners in mobilizing support and operationalizing national agricultural strategies and investment plans.

We seek to bring together national and local players, donors, international financial institutions, private enterprises, producer organizations, civil society organizations, and research institutions to accelerate critical means of implementation — technology, data and information, capacity development, funding and financing — for identified products and programs.
